The purpose of the Cause Marketing & PR Manager is to manage the execution of specified key elements of SweetWater’s marketing plan with nonprofit partnerships and programs, inclusive of recommending general strategies, developing and executing plans and programs.  This role will report directly to the Director of Marketing. 

This role will also spearhead our PR and media relations initiatives, working in tandem with our agency and internal stakeholders to ensure media coverage for the brewery in target publications and channels. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing PR programming, including managing media outreach and PR initiatives to drive key brand narrative pillars of product innovation, quality brews, environmental stewardship and the 420 lifestyle. You will serve as a key contact for teams across SweetWater, Green Flash and Alpine Brands to protect brand reputation and proactively leverage their work in earned media to drive the brand’s business objectives and increase consumer awareness and affinity for the brand. 

Also critical in this role is an ability to build strong relationships and drive constructive outcomes with internal cross-functional stakeholders, as well as agency partners through a combination of a collaborative approach, great follow-through and an ability to articulate and influence. 

Key Focus Areas: 

  • General Brand Management/Marketing support across functions 
  • Partnership Marketing (inclusive of Corporate Alliances, National 501c3s, Cause Marketing initiatives, and relevant Influencer/Ambassador Marketing) 
  • Public Relations 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development and manage/maintain national and local cause marketing programs; management of promotions and promotional programming, including leveraging all elements of the marketing mix as well as channel-specific tactics – as needed per x-functional team and marketing org support roles 
  • Drive mutually beneficial partnership programming and relationships for the SW brands and activation, promo hooks logistics, and other programming-related activation logistics 
  • Lead the development and implementation of the SweetWater, Green Flash and Alpine PR plans, including press events, product seeding, building relationships with key media and industry publications, and managing our PR agency of record 
  • Support and drive rollout of programs, innovation/product launches, brand/marketing news and other key brewery initiatives 
  • Work with x-functional marketing team to pull together information, plans and activities related to relevant cause marketing programs/initiatives, to package up as the internal marketing plan, and also particularly for commercial (sales) delivery 
  • Track, analyze, and report performance and trends / ROI; share performance accountability 
  • Budget Management, including brewery and co-op 


  • Approximately 3 years of marketing experience preferably on supplier/manufacturer side with beer, bev alc, or consumer packaged goods. 
  • Partnership Marketing Experience (may include some form of Brand Partnership, Corporate Alliance, Cause/Charity partner management, and/or Influencer/Ambassador Marketing) 
  • Public/media relations experience 
  • General brand/marketing management 
  • Must possess a four-year degree in Marketing or Management, or relevant field 

Technical competencies: 

  • Thorough knowledge of brand positioning and communication strategies. 
  • Thorough understanding of the commercial operations aspect of the business and the importance of marketing’s relationship to field sales from manufacturer/supplier standpoint – knowledge of three-tiered system in beer/bev alc a plus      
  • Have a strong understanding of promotional marketing program development process & execution, as well as tactics, tools, and activities 
  • Excellent Project Management Skills 
  • Excellent Relationship Skills 
  • Creativity and Ability to think outside the box 
  • Desire to seek, find, uncover and develop new opportunities in this area 
  • Thorough knowledge of brand positioning and communication strategies.
