We are looking for a competent Help Desk Technician to provide fast and useful technical assistance on computer systems. An excellent Help desk technician must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. The successful individual will answer queries on basic technical issues and offer advice to solve them. They will also be tasked with hardware setups and software installations. They must also be patient and understanding of less technical savvy end users. The goal is to provide efficient and effective solutions to our end user’s issues to make sure the various departments are running at maximum uptime.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for end users and provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by the end user
  • Walk end users through problem-solving process
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software
  • Install computer peripherals for users
  • Clean up computers. E.g. unnecessary hard drive use, physical cable management, etc.
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), and other systems
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in logs
  • Follow up with end users to ensure their issue has been resolved
  • Gain feedback from end users about computer usage
  • Provide accurate information on IT products or services
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
  • Write training manuals
  • Train end users

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma/University Degree in related field
  • 1-2 years experience in an IT setting
  • Organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is an asset
  • Basic IT knowledge
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new software and technologies
